Welcome to The Gorbals Health Centre

Dr Mills and Marshall Gorbals Health

The Health Centre is housed in a purpose built complex and access for the disabled is extremely easy. There are two well-equipped treatment rooms where nurses carry out procedures such as blood tests, wound cleaning and dressing, ear syringing and vaccinations.  There is also physiotherapy, podiatry & speech and language.

In addition to everything you need to know about the practice you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side.

Breast Screening

Female patients aged between 50 and 70 will be invited for breast screening this year.  Please attend you appointment as it could save your life.

The NHS offers breast screening to reduce the number of women who die from breast cancer.  Screening does this by finding breast cancers at an early stage when they are too small to see or feel.  As part of the Scottish Breast Screening Programme, the West of Scotland Breast Screening Service invites all women aged between 50 and 70 approximately every three years for breast screening.  Women over the age of 70 are still welcome to come for screening every three years, although they will not automatically be invited.

When you receive your appointment will depend on which GP practice you are registered with, which may mean that you are invited at different times to other women your age.  You should receive your first invitation before your 53rd birthday.  If you have not received your first invitation by your 53rd birthday please call 0141 800 8800.  Please contact your local screening centre if you have moved house and are concerned that you may have missed an invitation for screening.

Being breast aware is about getting to know your own body so that you can spot any changes to your breast early on.  Remember you can develop breast screening at any time.  This includes the time in between breast screening appointments.

Where you will be invited for your breast screening appointment will depend on where you live.  You will be invited to either a mobile unit within your local area or the screening centre.

Bowel Screening

Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Scotland after lung and breast cancer. Every year, almost 4,000 people are diagnosed with the disease.

The Scottish Bowel Screening Programme will invite all men and women in Scotland between the ages of 50 to 74 for screening every two years. The programme has been rolled out across Scotland and is now available in all NHS Boards.

Dr Mills & Dr Marshall would strongly recommend that eligible patients participate in this programme.
